It is a South African baked dessert called Malva Pudding.
It is my family’s FAVORITE. Look how amazing it looks!
Here's what you need:
2 cups of flour
2 cups of Milk
2tsp Vinegar (white)
1 cup sugar
1tsp Baking soda
2 TBL butter
2 TBL Apricot Jelly
1 1/4 tsp baking powder
Mix all the above ingredients together so that it is all mixed in and like batter. pour it into a glass pyrex dish about: 4Quart rectangle/square. Bake in the oven at 350 degrees fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius) until the cake it golden brown and when you stick a knife into it, it is cooked, nothing is stuck to the knife. Approx 45min-60min
While the cake part is baking, heat all these ingredients over low heat in a small pot. stir it so it makes a sort of creamy syrup sauce.
1 Cup of fresh heavy cream
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup of butter
1 cup of milk
2ts vanilla essence
Once the cake is baked, take it out of the oven and poke holes into it with a small knife. This isn’t a pretty cake, but it is so delicious, no one cares.
Then you pour the ENTIRE sauce over the cake. Keep poking holes into the cake so that all the sauce is absorbed into the cake.
This must be done while the cake is hot and straight out of the oven.
