Most of us feel disconnected from our body right now. Instead, we should be looking at it as a sense of energy and joy. Many of my clients have gained a few pounds during quarantine. Leaving them feeling down and defeated. I understand that we are all struggling through the day to day stress of this "new normal". Constantly being aggravated by politics and juggling our new day to day challenges. You are not alone, you will also find me eating my dairy, free salted caramel ice-cream too, as way to escape. I know that criticizing our body is easy and we all do it, but I am starting to see too many of my clients allowing their "inner villain" to take over, thus preventing them from getting dressed and feeling great on a daily basis. Sweat pants have become the new normal and I have to remind you all that the great Karl Lagerfeld was notorious for his quote, "Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life, so you bought some sweatpants.” This weekend, I ask you, instead of waiting to loose weight before you start making an effort to get dressed everyday, change your habit of self critisizing. Instead show your magnificent body gratitude. Our bodies are incredible. Every cell in our body is continuously renewing itself and our heart is a constant reminder of how miraculous life is. Nourish it and celebrate your wonderful body. Who knows, this new mindset might even propel you to loose those extra "Covid-pounds". Give yourself a break and celebrate your daily wins. I have started to keep a journal and every day I journalize my small wins. It has been a tremendous exercise for me and extremely fulfilling. When you truly connect with your body – knowing its wellbeing – you will truly thrive. Your body craves inner peace and positive responses from you. Remember the laws of "Karma"? " What you give, you get back." So create those positive feedback loops and reignite that love you have for yourself once again. Self love & appreciation NEVER goes out of style.
